UK Firms Must Urgently Improve Cyber Security
Posted 7 years ago
Top UK firms and charities have been told by the government that there is an urgent need for them to improve their Cyber Security measures after it was revealed that 68% of board members had not been trained to deal with Cyber Security incidents.
More than half of board members recognised that cyber threats are one of their main concerns regarding the security of their businesses but admitted that they had not received any information or training on the matter.
The Minister for Digital, Matt Hancock, highlighted that recent attacks had shown “the devastating effects of not getting our approach to cyber security right” and also added that the UK as a whole has “a long way to go until all our organisations are adopting best practice”.
Heavy Fines?
Companies that are involved in the likes of energy, transport and health could face multi-million pound fines if they are found guilty of not having sufficient Cyber Security measures in place.
The proposed fines have come quickly after the NHS was crippled by ‘WannaCry’ ransomeware.
