Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Training

Each of our courses ends with a multiple choice test to measure your knowledge of the material.

This Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Training course concludes with a 20 question multiple choice test with a printable certificate. In addition, brief in-course questions guide the user through the sections of the training and are designed to reinforce learning and ensure maximum user engagement throughout.

As well as printable user certificates, training progress and results are all stored centrally in your LMS (Learning Management System) and can be accessed any time to reprint certificates, check and set pass marks and act as proof of a commitment to ongoing legal compliance.

What does my certificate include?

Your Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Training Certificate includes your name, company name (if applicable), name of course taken, pass percentage, date of completion, expiry date and stamps of approval or accreditations by recognised authorities.

Please note if you are using our course content via SCORM in a third party LMS then we are unable to provide certificates and you will need to generate these in your host LMS yourself.

It’s important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.

Under the Health & Safety at Work Act, as well as other legislation, your employer is ​legally ​responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and for ensuring the health and safety of you, your colleagues, and anyone else who might be affected by the work you carry out.

This means they need to ​do​ a risk assessment to identify hazards, assess the risks they pose, and establish control measures to reduce any risks.

There are many reasons why your employer might provide you with RPE and make sure that you wear it. Some reasons include when:

• There’s still a risk of exposure even after all other control measures are in place
• There’s a short-term or infrequent risk of exposure and implementing other controls is impractical
• Other control measures are being put in place
• You need a safe exit during an emergency
• You’re c​arrying out maintenance or emergency work
• There’s a temporary failure of controls
• You’re b​eing rescued by emergency workers

Your employer is also responsible for providing you with information, instruction, and training to keep you safe and on how to properly use, clean, store, and maintain any RPE they provide to you.

​​To do this, they may choose one person, or a group of people, to be responsible for RPE ​at work​.

This designated person, or people, may be responsible for overseeing RPE policies and procedures, training staff, deciding where safety signs should be placed, and helping contractors, visitors, and new members of staff understand your organisation’s RPE policies and procedures.

​​But i​t’s not just your employer who has responsibilities, you also have certain legal duties too. For example, you have a duty to:

• Always use RPE that’s been provided to you
• Use RPE appropriately and in line with the manufacturer’s instructions
• Follow all safety policies and procedures created by your employer
• Store, clean, and maintain RPE in line with the manufacturer’s instructions
• Report any faulty, damaged, or inadequate RPE to your employer
• Participate in any training provided by your employer
• Take part in fit testing for tight-fitting face masks
