Attending college in the 1980's I knew about Asbestos as I trained as an engineer. I was also familiar when it was discovered to be a danger to health when the material was broken or worked with. However, I didn't know why it was ever used in the first place if it were such a hazard. I am a little surprised though that when double bagging it is not recommended to wear PPE.
