iHasco’s online First Aid courses: Who needs what?
Posted 4 years ago
The type of first aid training needed for your employees is determined by a number of factors that are dependent on the type of workplace environment your business sits within.
Whether it’s somebody in a managerial position who requires knowledge of first aid provisions, or an employee who needs full training to become a full first aider, we’ve got you covered.
Our range of online first aid courses is accredited by RoSPA, IIRSM, and the CPD, providing essential training resources for your staff that equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to implement first aid measures when required.
But, with so many different courses, we understand it can be difficult to keep track of the type of first aid training that your employees and organisation will benefit from. To help assist you, we’ve created a free downloadable guide that highlights the range of courses we have available to you, which you can access at the bottom of the page.
What type of first aid training do I need to consider for my workplace?
To be able to give first aid a person must have a practical training qualification. The qualification expires after 3 years. However, 3 years is a VERY long time to remember all the details, so refreshers are an excellent recap, bridging the gap between practical sessions. Our courses are designed to be used either as an introduction to First Aid for someone about to go on a practical first aid course, or as refreshers for people who have completed practical training within the last 3 years.
Knowing the number of first raiders you need to appoint for your workplace will inform how many staff members you need to have trained in first aid. Check out our blog post to find out more.
Are there different first aid courses relevant to specific industries?
Changes to legislation mean it’s important to stay updated on any alterations that may impact your industry and business. For example, in 2021, changes were made by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) that require a first aid qualification to be held by prospective door supervisors or security guards before they can undertake full training.
Equally, first aid training courses are required in the construction industry, with changes coming into effect in 2013 with amendments to the Health and Safety (First AId) Regulations 1981 placing more emphasis on businesses in the construction sector to provide adequate first aid training and practical advice for employees.
Whether these examples are relevant or not, it demonstrates that legislation can change quickly. As a business owner, it is important to ensure any changes such as this are addressed accordingly to ensure your business meets compliance with legal regulations.
