Appropriate for level
Decent overall. I do think though that it would benefit from more emphasis on Near Miss reporting. Let someone know if something is significant or not, take away the judgement call from folk with less training. Even if it’s only pointing towards a safety observation system which a company may chose. Leading indicators rather than just lagging ones.
Excellent Training Video
Very useful information on how to report accidents/incidents at work, and the legal requirements regarding this. Video is informative, easy to follow and understand.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
It’s important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
If you want to help maintain a safe working environment, then an accident reporting eLearning course can offer all the insight employees need to make your business a safer place for all.
Accident reporting training and compliance with RIDDOR
During the first section of this accident reporting eLearning course, you will learn about the importance of compliance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations or RIDDOR (2013).
Complying with RIDDOR is important from a business standpoint, as it offers your organisation better insight and understanding to develop safety policies and procedures in line with information learned from undertaking this training course.
The learning objectives of the accident reporting eLearning includes:
- Understanding the importance of RIDDOR
- Recognising the different types of accident reports
- Identifying how to record information correctly
- Highlighting what to report on and other potential considerations
- How to create and amend reports
What is meant by the term ‘Work-related’?
RIDDOR only requires you to report accidents if they happen ‘out of or in connection with work’. The fact that there is an accident at work premises does not, in itself, mean that the accident is work-related – the work activity itself must contribute to the accident.
An accident is ‘work-related’ if any of the following played a significant role:
– The way in which the work was carried out.
– Any machinery, plant, substances or equipment used for the work or
– The condition of the site or premises where the accident happened.

Getting accident reporting correct
Reporting accidents is a vital process for any and all workplaces for two crucial reasons.
Firstly, by recording accidents, employers are able to identify the causes of injuries and illnesses and take steps to remove or control them. After all, a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. Secondly, reporting accidents is a legal requirement. The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations require employers to report any workplace injuries and illnesses, failure to do so can lead to a prison sentence and an unlimited fine – not to mention the impact on an organisation’s reputation for ignoring safety legislation.
