Section 1
In a first aid at work situation, your priority is to quickly and calmly assess what’s happened and who needs help. In this section you will cover: Infection Control, The DR ABC, Calling the emergency services, CPR, Rescue Breaths, AEDs and more!
Section 2
Now you’ve dealt with the immediate life-threatening conditions from your primary survey, your next step is to see if you can find out what’s wrong with the casualty. This section covers how to find out what's wrong, asking open questions like “What symptoms do you have?” and checking for injuries.
Section 3
This section contains step-by-step guides to essential procedures and treatments you may be called on to provide to someone in your workplace. They are designed to refresh your practical first aid at work training.
Section 4
In this final section, we’re covering the extra first aid procedures and treatments required by a full first aider. This includes eye injuries, strokes, heart attacks, poisoning, anaphylaxis, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, dislocations, muscle injuries and more…

It’s therefore essential that workplaces have the correct people in place to deal with potentially life-threatening situations and that other staff have a good understanding of how to react in an emergency.
This IIRSM approved First Aid at work refresher training is the perfect course for workplaces of all sizes, regardless of their industry. Using high-quality video examples, your staff will gain a solid understanding of:
- the need for a first aider to be able to record incidents, prevent cross-infection, understand their role and assess situations quickly to act safely and effectively
- how to administer first aid to those who are; unconscious, choking, burned, wounded and bleeding or someone suffering from shock
- how to administer first aid for minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, etc.)
- how to administer CPR and how to use an AED
- as well as how to administer first aid to a casualty with: injuries to bones, muscles, chest injuries, eye injuries, poisoning, anaphylaxis
- be able to recognise signs of a heart attack, stroke, epileptic seizures, asthma attacks or diabetes and provide first aid

Easy to understand, precise and good visuals
it was as concise as you could make it
fast flowing concise information that is hard to achieve considering all the in depth knowledge associated with this topic, must admit it caught me out with some of the test questions but still think this should be use alongside a practical refresher especially as there are more developments in applying equipment and techniques to situations. retaining knowledge of first aid that you do not use every day seems the biggest drawback of recollecting what and when you should do things any aid is of benefit to me in this role, but is a good all round understanding for any body not done this sort of thing before.

The first aid refresher course provided a comprehensive review of essential first aid techniques. Overall it was informative reminder, with the quiz at the end really focussing on what I knew.

The First Aid Regulations 1981
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.
It’s a legal requirement to have at least one person first aid trained, if you have up to 25 employees. If you have more than 50 employees, only one first aider for every 100 employees is the guidance, so if you have 101 employees, you need at least two first aid trained workers.
3.—(1) An employer shall provide, or ensure that there are provided, such equipment and facilities as are adequate and appropriate in the circumstances for enabling first-aid to be rendered to his employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
