Section 1
What is the definition of a confined space? And why are they dangerous? This section answers these questions, covering dangers such as – flammable atmospheres, hazardous atmospheres, hazardous temperatures, drowning and asphyxiation. It also looks at dangers specific to using particular equipment or substances and dangers associated with particular types of work.
Section 2
In this section, we look at who is responsible for employees' safety. This section of the course looks at Emergency rescue plans, Risk assessments, Confined spaces regulations, Permits, Safe systems of work
Section 3
Before entering a confined space there are important checks that must be done. The atmosphere must be tested – the oxygen levels must be within safe limits and the same goes for flammability and toxicity levels too. This section looks at purging and ventilation, isolation, cleaning and lighting. And finally, it looks at the equipment that might be needed – PPE and RPE.
About this course
Anywhere which is entirely, or at least substantially, enclosed, and where a person might be at risk of injury from conditions within that space – from hazardous substances or lack of oxygen, for example – is considered a confined space.
Every year, around 15 workers in the UK lose their lives whilst working in confined spaces; they can be incredibly dangerous places to work and so it’s absolutely vital that there are emergency procedures in place and that you know how to follow them.
During this confined space training course you’ll learn what confined spaces are and what makes them dangerous, what legal responsibilities both you and your employer have, how to conduct a proper risk assessment and understand emergency procedures, and what you can do to make working in confined spaces safer for everyone.
This course is particularly important for workers in the construction industry, installation/ maintenance, manufacturing, facilities management, and anyone carrying out repair work or using dangerous substances in poorly ventilated areas.

I would suggest when discussing acronym's for example: PPE RPE, the definition of what they are should be made clear before their use.

Why is this training important?
Compliance
It’s important that you comply with the law and know the ways in which it affects you and the way you work.
The Confined Space Regulations 1997 apply where the assessment identifies risks of serious injury from work in confined spaces. These regulations contain the following key duties:
- Avoid entry to confined spaces, e.g. by doing the work from the outside;
- If entry to a confined space is unavoidable, follow a safe system of work; and
- Put in place adequate emergency arrangements before the work start
Every employer shall (a)ensure compliance with the provisions of these Regulations in respect of any work carried out by his employees; and (b) ensure compliance, so far as is reasonably practicable, with the provisions of these Regulations in respect of any work carried out by persons other than his employees insofar as the provisions relate to matters which are within his control
