Pushing meat and dairy free meals and diets
Overall the training was interesting. However, I didn't like how they pushed meat and dairy free days, with the intention of becoming meat and dairy free in order to stop intensive farming. Pushing dairy alternatives for anything other than an individual's health benefit is not environmentally friendly – or providing environmental awareness. To be more environmentally aware we should be sourcing local seasonal foods, from our own farmers who adhere to strict farming guidelines and not importing from the other side of the world.
Big subject – lots of surprising and interesting examples of how easy it is to make a difference
Added resources can be used for Bulletin Boards and regularly raise awareness to all staff.
Incorrect Answers
Some of the answers given are incorrect – e.g. it states that 17 trees provide enough oxygen for 2 humans for a year (correct answer according to the multiple question answers) – but in reality, the statistic explains that 17 trees provide enough oxygen for 34 people to breathe for a year (based on the calculation that a single tree can provide enough oxygen for 2 people annually).
Made me think about the impact my actions at home and work has on the environment and advised on how to improve things.
