Some useful areas, some overgeneralised advice and others so obvious as to be laughable
There was two particular questions on the test that I disagree with. Firstly, saying that it is always safer in a train to sit in a carriage with the most people is ridiculous. Why? Because one uses one's intuition, particularly as a woman. If I have the choice of sitting in a carriage full of drunken louts, or a carriage with a couple of elderly ladies … well – which do you think I would choose hmmmm? You cannot always define a right or wrong answer to some situations. It depends on the circumstances. Secondly, the statement saying that you should always walk facing the oncoming traffic, again, cannot be generalised. I can assume the statement is refering (as most advice is) to someone working in an urban area, ie a road with a pavement. For those working in more rural areas or for any road that does not have a pavement for pedestrians, this is a dangerous piece of advice. I agree, that in general for your personal safety, to walk facing oncoming traffic. However, if you are walking along the right side of the road, and you are coming to a sharp right hand bend, your vision is obstructed, and particularly so if there is a high sloping or overgrown verge, or indeed anything on the side of the road, all of which will further obstruct your view. Not only your view of oncoming traffic, but their view of yourself on that side of the road. Therefore as you see this kind of bend ahead of you, you should, well before reaching that bend, carefully cross to the left hand side of the road, where you will have a good sight line around it. Once round the bend, when all is clear, you can then cross back to the right hand side of the road once again. And finally I am taking this course, pretty much all of which does not apply to my particular job. So a waste of my time. At least I can claim the time for doing it!
Amazing
It was good and amazing you're the best.
Useful
Useful info and useable (adaptable) checklist
patronising and self evident
I am not saying that there was nothing of use in this module, but much of it was patronising and self evident
Some of the training was very basic and not applicable
Some of the information was very basic- including how to get to work, take water on a journey, how to look after your car. I would prefer to see Hope after Harms Lone worker policy please and information about the safety devices they use fo Lone Working
Helpful and informative
