The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005

A legislation brought forward by the European Union Directive to make sure workers were protected from high levels of vibration that are a risk to their health.

This legislation states that anyone who handles, produces or disposes of waste must do it properly or safely. Those who do not do so could face imprisonment or fines.

Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992

This legislation aims to reduce the risk of accidents to you or someone else by using the correct PPE, which is the employer’s duty to supply. It is the employee’s responsibility to use the PPE correctly and at the right time though.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998

This legislation states that any machinery or equipment must be fit for purpose. It also states that anyone using the equipment must be trained in how to do so.

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005

States that employers have to eliminate or reduce the risks of noise exposure to employees. They also have to provide hearing protection, provide training, information & health surveillance & review a situation if noise exposure levels change.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

Employers must carry out risk assessments & review them often, keep records, plan preventative measures as a result of a risk assessment, carry out health checks where necessary and appoint a ‘responsible person’ to help them comply with legal obligations.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005

There must be at least one person appointed to carry out preventative and protective measures of this legislation. This person should have training, knowledge and experience to implement these measures effectively.
